There always are consequences

Newton’s Third Law of Motion:

“A force is a push or a pull that acts upon an object as a results of its interaction with another object. There are two forces resulting from this interaction – these two forces are called action and reaction forces and are the subject of Newton’s third law of motion.  …
‘For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.’

Another way of saying this is that for every word or behavior we do, there is always a consequence – sometimes according to our plan/hope, sometimes not. But my take on Newton’s law is to be prepared, have known options at various stages in any project – don’t be unaware. And this is my application in all areas of my life… or at least I try to.

“Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real  life, eternal life.” (Galatians 6:7, MSG)

If you haven’t realized by now, there are always consequences to what we say and do. The old… ‘what I meant’, doesn’t work when the only result of our words and actions are the negative consequences. What you sow you truly reap so you shouldn’t be surprised.

As a context:

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,” (Deuteronomy 30:19, AMP)

“If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.” (1 Peter 3:10)

“Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak].” (Ephesians 4:29, AMP)

“But whatever [word] comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this is what defiles and dishonors the man.”
(Matthew 15:19, AMP)

The Message Bible states the Matthew verse as: “But what comes out of the mouth gets its start in the heart. It’s from the heart that we vomit up evil…” And just as good produces good consequences, evil produces evil consequences. Bottom line – every action, every word is a seed sown and it will produce a result.

“The [intrinsically] good man produces what is good and honorable and moral out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart; and the [intrinsically] evil man produces what is wicked and depraved out of the evil [in his heart]; for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart.” (Luke 6:45, AMP)

The reason that I am presenting so many scriptures related to this subject is because it is incredibly crucial and with so many warnings given us, we should be aware. Remember, we will stand to give an accounting for our words (Matthew 12:36). That shouldn’t cause us to fear, but it should cause us to take stock of what we say, to be intentional. And it should be a check for us to be very aware of the ramifications, the consequences from our words and actions. Not fear… focus.
