Truth is truth. Yes?! However… Truth that we see, understand, and accept is based on our Perceptions. And, our Perceptions are based in our Attitudes. And where do our Attitudes comes from? Experience. Significant People, liked and not liked, in our lives. Our Personal Learnings. Does this seem to be devolving into ‘relativism’? Possibly. And that’s no foundation! That’s not how we should be building our character, our beliefs and sharing them. There HAS to be some relevant, viable, and unchanging foundation.
“For I am the Lord, I do not change [but remain faithful to My covenant with you]; that is why you, O sons of Jacob, have not come to an end.”
(Malachi 3:6, AMP)“Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, AMP)
“But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future].”
(John 16:13, AMP)“All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, AMP)
Any questions? This sums up everything you need to know regarding truth. This is where you can place your trust and confidence. We have to act from a foundation of truth or we truly are like the shifting sands (Matthew 7:24-27). Footing can become impossible in shifting sands and if it’s based on the last person we talked with, then it really isn’t ours – we are only parroting someone else. And just how trustworthy is this?
Opinion can always be shared. But it should also be identified as this. If you don’t have corroborating scriptures (in context) supporting your statements then you have opinion (not to be despised, merely acknowledged). Also, if you are in relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit then you also will have a stronger basis for what you believe… and why. But never say – ‘God told me (fill in the blank)’ unless you are convinced and willing to act on it. One of the best tests for you (and others) about whether this did originate from God is to test the spirits (1 John 4:1). If we’re instructed to do something, we could end up skinning our knees if we don’t.
I think I’ve made a strong case for how you can know, what you can do when you are seeking truth. Truth is what we should be sharing and standing and walking on – truth. Truth will never change it’s mind, will never betray, will always be constant and consistent. Honestly… truth IS truth. All we need do is to find the source and act on it – boldly, confidently. And we have the source we can rely on! Everything is covered. All we need do is to believe.
